Samenwerking Magnum en Slate
The online magazine Slate, has launched a new feature called "Today's Pictures" to showcase photojournalism from the Magnum photo agency. The feature will have two components. The first is a daily gallery of images taken from Magnum's archives.
The second component comprises "interactive" photo essays from long-term documentary projects by Magnum photographers. These are essentially slide shows, edited and produced by Magnum, with audio narration by the photographer. Two essays will be published every month.
Slate's editor Jacob Weisberg has written an introduction to the feature, and the first two daily galleries are an introductory survey of images from Magnum's photographers. The first two interactive essays are a look at life on the U.S.-Mexico border from 1975 to 2001 by Alex Webb and a project by Simon Wheatley on the youth and music of London's housing developments.
